High-Precision Motorcycle Navigation

The integrated GPS system supports dual-band L1 + L5 positioning as well as GNSS, GLONASS, GALILEO and A-GPS. The manufacturer specifies GPS precision of less than one metre under suitable conditions.

This makes the DMD NOR7E suitable for motorcycle touring, adventure riding, GPX route navigation and demanding off-road applications.

2200-Nit Full HD Display

The 7-inch high-clarity LTPS LCD offers a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and sustained brightness of 2200 nits.

According to DMD, the display is designed to maintain its specified maximum brightness even under demanding operating conditions.

Android 14 and Navigation Apps

With Android 14 and Google Play Store, you can install your preferred navigation applications. Compatible choices include DMD2, Google Maps, OsmAnd, Locus Map, GPX Viewer, Rally Navigator, Waze, TomTom GO, Gaia GPS, Kurviger and Guru Maps.

DMD2 Navigation App Included

DMD2 comes pre-installed and fully licensed. The NOR7E also includes four user-configurable coloured buttons that can be assigned to functions such as launching applications, switching between apps, saving locations, controlling the GPX recorder or disabling touchscreen input.

LoRa Wireless Group Ride

The LoRa wireless module and basic antenna are included. DMD2 Group Ride can use LoRa to share rider locations without requiring an internet connection.

The system can also combine LoRa and internet connectivity when available.

Motorcycle Power and Remote Controller Connections

The DMD NOR7E features a dedicated wired connection system for motorcycle power and compatible DMD remote controllers.

There are two connector generations:

  • Gen 1 – M9 Screw Type Connector: Threaded connector with mechanical screw fastening.
  • Gen 2 – Push and Pull Connector: Quick-connect system without threaded cable fastening.

The M9 version also features a separate M9 accessory connector for compatible expansion accessories.

Both connector generations use device-side connectors soldered directly onto the mainboard. The connector systems and their corresponding cables are not directly interchangeable.

Always select power cables, wiring harnesses and accessories that match the connector generation of your NOR7E.

Designed for Adventure and Off-Road Riding

The DMD NOR7E is specified as IP67 and MIL STD 810G. The included metal motorcycle holder features vibration dampening to help protect the device during demanding riding conditions.

The dedicated wired power system is designed for motorcycle use. The M9 Screw Type Connector provides threaded mechanical retention, while the Push and Pull Connector offers a quicker cable connection process.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the M9 Screw Type Connector and the Push and Pull Connector?

The original DMD NOR7E (Gen 1) uses an M9 Screw Type Connector with threaded mechanical fastening. The newer generation (Gen 2) uses a Push and Pull Connector designed for quicker cable connection and disconnection.

The main difference is the mechanical connection method. Both systems are intended for motorcycle power and compatible wired connections, but require generation-specific cables and accessories.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the M9 Screw Type Connector (Gen 1)?

Advantages:

  • Threaded mechanical fastening provides a secure cable connection.
  • The screw connection helps prevent accidental disconnection.
  • Established connector system with compatible M9 cables and accessories.
  • Well suited to installations where the cable normally remains connected.

Disadvantages:

  • Connecting and disconnecting requires screwing and unscrewing the cable connector.
  • Less convenient when the navigation tablet is frequently removed.
  • Careful alignment and tightening are necessary to avoid mechanical damage.
  • Repairing a damaged device-side connector requires work on the mainboard.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Push and Pull Connector (Gen 2)?

Advantages:

  • Quick connection and disconnection without threaded fastening.
  • More convenient when frequently removing the navigation tablet.
  • Easier cable handling where access behind the device is limited.
  • No manual screw-fastening operation is required.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires cables and accessories designed for the newer connector generation.
  • Existing M9 cables cannot be connected directly.
  • Availability of compatible expansion accessories may differ from the M9 generation.
  • Repairing a damaged device-side connector still requires work on the mainboard.

Which connector generation is better for off-road riding?

Both connector generations are intended for motorcycle applications. The M9 Screw Type Connector provides threaded mechanical retention, while the Push and Pull Connector offers easier connection and removal.

There is currently no verified comparative test data establishing that either connector generation is generally superior in vibration resistance, durability or waterproofing.

The preferred option therefore depends primarily on the intended installation, accessory compatibility and how frequently the device is removed.

Are M9 and Push and Pull cables interchangeable?

No. The M9 Screw Type Connector and Push and Pull Connector use different physical connection systems.

Always check which connector generation your NOR7E uses before ordering replacement power cables, wiring harnesses or expansion accessories.

Can the M9 Screw Type Connector be replaced with the Push and Pull Connector?

Both connector generations use device-side connectors soldered directly onto the NOR7E mainboard. Converting a Gen 1 device to a Gen 2 connector is therefore not a simple plug-and-play modification.

Such a conversion would require work on the internal electronics and potentially other compatible components. The technical feasibility and manufacturer approval of such a conversion have not yet been confirmed.

Can a damaged power connector be repaired?

Because the device-side connector is soldered directly to the mainboard in both generations, replacing a damaged connector requires specialised electronic repair work.

Depending on the damage, repair may be technically possible. It should only be assessed and performed by the manufacturer or a suitably qualified repair specialist.

Replacing the rear cover alone does not automatically replace the soldered mainboard connector.

Which connector generation should I choose?

Choose the M9 Screw Type Connector (Gen 1) if you prefer threaded mechanical cable retention or already use compatible M9 cables and accessories.

Choose the Push and Pull Connector (Gen 2) if quick cable connection and convenient device removal are important to you.

Important: Always check the selected connector generation and compatibility of optional accessories before ordering.
